Julia (Koba) Helsel

HELSEL – Julia, 89, of Johnstown, died February 9, 2024, at Heritage Ridge Senior Living. Born June 28, 1934, in Jenner Township, the daughter of John and Catherine Koba. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Conrad Helsel; son, Glenn Helsel; and brothers and sisters: Olga, Metro, Walter and Mary. Survived by her children: Deborah, wife of Paul Singel; Gary, married to Karin (Tauber) Helsel; and Brian, married to Tammy (Yuhas) Helsel; grandchildren: Marissa, Cody (Haley), Sydney, Stephanie, Colin, Tyler; great-grandchildren: Xander, Jax, and Layla; daughter-in-law, Kathleen, married to Fred Turnbull; and sister, Ann, married to Rev. Ivan Dornic. Also survived by special niece, Katrina Fedinatz along with numerous nieces, nephews her cat, Dolce; and dog, Peppy.   Friends will be received from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc. where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Rev. Ivan Dornic officiating.  Committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to either the Cambria County Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in memory of Julia.
