Betty G. (Gaver) De Yot

DE YOT – Betty G., 102, of Johnstown, died August 4, 2019, at Amber Springs at LaurelWood Care Center. Born June 6, 1917, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Joseph Francis and Aline Margaret (White) Gaver. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur Vincent De Yot; infant son, John Patrick; son, David; sister, Aline; and brothers, Frank and Robert. She is survived by her children: Thomas, married to Kathie Madden, Ellisville, MO; and Aline De Yot, wife of David Fracassi, Erie, PA; Becky Babik; Chris Goch; Mindy Nitch; Bev and Craig Mlaker; Maryann Corbaci; Kristina and Denny Kelly, all of Johnstown; and David Corbaci, Nevada; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Betty was a member of the former St. Rochus Catholic Church and currently a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. She was a beloved 5th grade teacher at West End Catholic School. She was an active volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, the Very Rev. Mark S. Begly, VF. Committal will be held at Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. The family would like to thank the staff of Amber Springs for the loving care they provided to Betty while she was there. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of Victory, Homes of Charity, 780 Ridge Road, Lackawanna, NY 14218-1682, in memory of Betty.
