CONCANNON - Deacon John J., 91, of Johnstown, passed away on June 21, 2019 at home. He was born on November 6, 1927 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Rosemary H. (Heinrich) Concannon; parents, John W. and Mary Concannon; sisters-in-law Rita Concannon and Delores Heinrich; brothers-in-law Joseph and Bernard Heinrich. Survived by children John Concannon Jr. and wife Carol (Mock); Monica Kendera wife of the late John Kendera; Brigid Starchok; Joseph Concannon and wife Jennifer (Stubbs); Michael Concannon and wife Brenda (Hahn); Mary Ann Ozbold and husband James; Carolyn Concannon; Thomas Concannon and wife Karen (Sida); grandchildren Jason and Michelle Concannon; Angela Kendera; Philip Starchok; Joseph (wife Jessica) Concannon; Marybeth (husband Michael) Jones; Stephanie Concannon; Alexander (wife Angela) Concannon; Anthony (wife Emily) Concannon; Justin (wife Laura) Concannon; Christa Concannon; Diane (husband Todd) Smith; Joseph (wife Marcella) Ozbold; Emma Concannon. Great grandchildren Adilia; McCallister; Ryan, Madeline; Max, Beatrix; Evelyn, Malcom, Maribelle, Nina, Louisa; Scarlett, Terah, Amber; Joseph, Jameson. Brother Leo Concannon; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Rutledge; Alice Heinrich. Numerous nieces and nephews. John ministered faithfully and actively to the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown as a Deacon for 34 years (from his ordination on June 1,1985 until his death) serving at the former St. Joseph Church, Johnstown; Assumption Parish, Conemaugh; St. John Cantius and St. Mary's Church, Windber; St. Andrew's Church, Johnstown; and St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Johnstown. Recipient of the Prince Gallitzin Cross. John was also an Army veteran who attended Virginia Military Institute, and a retired General Foreman employed for 36 years by the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation. Friends received from 3-8 P.M. on Monday at the Ozog Funeral Home, Johnstown, where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Very Rev. James F. Crookston. Committal will be at St. John Gualbert Cemetery. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to Proclaim Ministry, 117 Clinton Street, Johnstown, PA 15901 in memory of John.
