RYBAR – Donald Stephen, 81, died October 28, 2019 at Amber Hills at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg, Pennsylvania after suffering from the disease of Alzheimers. He was born January 1, 1938, in Johnstown, to Stephen A. “Champ” and Anna (Kushman) Rybar in Minersville. Preceded in death by his parents and niece, Mary Judith. Don is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Nick Banda; and his sister, Dolores Evans in Connecticut. Also survived by three nieces, Ann and Judy Rees; and Susan Evans. He was a devout member Roman Catholic Church celebrating the Word at St. George Church in Erie and St. Benedict Church in Geistown. Don graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School in 1955 and Clarion University in 1960 with a Master’s Degree in Secondary Word Culture. He taught for 38 years at Fort LeBoeuf High School in Waterford, Pennsylvania, where he also coached baseball and track. He loved life in many ways especially through extensive world travel, sports and music. He was a proud member of the 1954 Hahn’s AAABA baseball team. Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday 1 p.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Fr. David Peles celebrant. Committal at St. Stephen’s Cemetery. If desired, donations made to Bishop McCort High School in Don’s Memory would be appreciated by the family.
