Francis John Mesnak

MESNAK, Francis John, 89, Grand Rapids, MI, formerly of Johnstown, PA.

Born May 11, 1930 in Johnstown.  Passed away June 6, 2019 at Samaritas Senior Living in Grand Rapids.  Son of Thomas Mesnak and Catherine (Grasa) Mesnak. Preceded in death by parents, wife Genevieve  “Jenny” (Golojuch) and brother Thomas Mesnak. Survived by sons:  Michael, Grand Rapids, MI and Brian (Alisa), Cincinnati, OH and brothers:  Joseph (Agnes) Mesnak,  Edward Mesnak, Rudolph Mesnak (Dover, DE) and Walter (Joan) Mesnak of Johnstown and many nieces and nephews. Francis will be sorely missed by family as well as many friends and neighbors.

Francis was a Korean War veteran who served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.

He was employed for 30 years at Harris Boyer Company and for 15 years at Johnstown Savings Bank / Ameriserv.

Francis was a member of Croatian Fraternal Union of America, Lodge 5, American Legion Post 294, Korean War Veteran’s Association, Inc. Post No 1, Croatian Hall, St. Clair-Tremont Trap and Field Club. Former member of St. Rochus Catholic Church.

Funeral service will be held at Grandview Cemetery on Saturday August 31st at 10:00 AM with military rites by the Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League #287.
