Genevieve L. (Bench) Keafer

KEAFER – Genevieve L., 91, of Johnstown died June 5, 2019, at Westmont Woods. Born December 3, 1927, in Johnstown the daughter of Marie (Groman) Bench. Preceded in death by her mother; brother, Anthony and sisters, Louise and Frances. Survived by her loving husband of 65 years, David Keafer; daughters: Diane Keafer, of Pickerington, OH, Yvonne Keafer, Pittsburgh, and Lucinda, wife of Thomas Custer, York; and special nephew, Claude Bench, MA. Genevieve was a graduate of JHS class of 1946, member of St. Therese Catholic Church; a devoted volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul; member of the Oakhurst Mother’s Club and former employee of Sanitary Dairy and Jeannine’s Fashions in Johnstown. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street. Private funeral service will be held Saturday. Committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery. The family would like to thank Rose Personal Care, Penn Hospice and the wonderful staff of Westmont Woods for the loving care they gave to Genevieve in her final weeks. In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to St. Therese Catholic Church, 536 Decker Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906 in memory of Genevieve. Gen loved her books, poetry, music and especially the laughter of family and friends.
