SMITH – Helen, 98, of Ottawa, Kansas, formerly of Johnstown, died February 1, 2019, in Ottawa. Born December 17, 1920, in Johnstown the daughter of Ivan and Rose (Baich) Mikesic. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. Smith; son, Robert J. Smith; and 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters: Carol, wife of Larry Ramach, Johnstown; and Rhonda, wife of Steve Howard, Princeton, KS who cared for her for 30 years; daughter-in-law, Linda Smith, Daytona Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren: 7 great-grandchildren: 1 great-great-granddaughter; and brother, William Mikesic. Helen worked as a crane operator during WWII for Bethlehem Steel Corp, Shell Plant division. She enjoyed doing word puzzles and loved to fly. She was a life member of St. Therese Catholic Church. At the request of the family private services will be held. The family is being served by the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Johnstown.
