Haggerty - Lawrence E., 84, passed away August 2, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family. Larry was a kind, compassionate man who genuinely cared for others. His sense of humor and penchant for practical jokes got him into trouble more than once, but left his family with legendary tales. He was an avid reader and gardener, and a lover of jigsaw puzzles. Born May 18, 1935 in Johnstown, son of James Haggerty and Susan (Marsh) Haggerty Williams and stepfather George Williams. Preceded in death by parents and stepfather, sisters Mary Bidelman and husband Tom, Margaret Lavely and husband Wilbur, brothers Patrick and wife Rita, and James, father-in-law and mother-in-law Albert and Elizabeth Dadey, brother-in-law Albert Dadey, Jr., great-granddaughter Inez (Nezzie), grandson Davonte, nephew Michael, nieces Joyce and Meghan. Survived by his wife, soul-mate, and true-love of more than 60 years Beatrice (Dadey) Haggerty. Also survived by children Jeffrey (Janet) of Seneca, PA, Kimberly of Ligonier, PA, and Timothy (Mack) of Oakland, CA, granddaughters Melissa Cook and Marilyn Haggerty of Johnstown, brothers-in-law James Dadey (Sue Ellen), and Thomas Dadey (Karen), sister-in-law Patricia Dadey of Dayton, OH, daughter-in-law Kathy Mock (Darren), nieces and nephews. Lawrence was a graduate of Johnstown High School and an Air Force Veteran. He retired from Bethlehem Steel with 36 years service. He was a member of the Korean War Veteran Post #1 and the American Legion. He was a member of the former St. Columba Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Maharajh and Natalie for their compassionate and excellent care. Friends will be received Monday, August 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church on Tuesday, August 6 at 11:00 AM by Father Anthony Francis Spilka, OFM Conv. Internment Grandview Cemetery with military honors by VFW Menocher Post 155 Ritual Team.
