Marion E. (Goetz) Vavrek

VAVREK – Marion E., 96, of Johnstown, died July 25, 2018, at Westmont Woods Nursing Care Center. Born June 10, 1922, in Johnstown the daughter of John and Anna (Tomko) Goetz. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Martin Vavrek; brothers: John and Robert Goetz; and grandson, Brian Smith. Survived by her children: Carol, wife of Joseph LaRocca; Judith, wife of Ronald Sasarak; Elaine, wife of Gregory LaRocca, Rene Vavrek; and Missy Plank; grandchildren: Joseph LaRocca; Mari Lamia; Aaron Sasarak; Christopher LaRocca, MD; and Kaleigh Plank; and great-grandchildren: Dominic; Anna; Maria; Ian; and Sophie.  Marion was a member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a Benedictine Oblate. Friends will be received from Friday from 9 a.m. until time of transfer prayers at 9:45 a.m. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, the Very Rev. James Crookston officiating. Committal service will be held at St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
