SPISAK - Paul J. Sr. 78; Johnstown, PA. Passed away July 21, 2019 at home. Born May 3,1941 in Portage, PA. Son of George J. Sr. and Magdeline (Lysinger) Spisak. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Ruth Ann; and brother, Jim Spisak. Survived by loving wife of 56 years, Joanne (Popovich) whom he married April 20,1963; and sons Luke (Barbara), Paul Jr. (Deborah), Matthew (Diane), Michael Sr. (Sue), and Mark (Beth) all of Johnstown; and grandchildren, Kevin Slippy, Michael Jr, Zackery, Hunter, Heather and Emily Spisak all of Johnstown. A brother of Kay (Edward Paige), George Jr. (Paula) of Johnstown; Tom (Diane) Hallsville, TX; and Greg (Pam), Elizabethtown, PA; and sister-in-law, Marie Spisak of Shippensburg. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel Car Shop Division and also worked at the Wire Mill. He enjoyed doing construction work and built his own camp and many other projects. Paul was an avid fisherman and hunter, having shot a black bear in the 1970's. He was a great mushroom hunter and enjoyed his gardens. Paul loved Polka music and listened every weekend to the many polka programs on radio and enjoyed watching polka shows on TV. Paul was a duckpin and tenpin bowler. He bowled 2,300 games. He carried a 200 average when he retired from bowling. He was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol where he served as President and attended several National Conventions as a delegate. He was a member of the C.F.U. Lodge 5 and an honorary member of Slovak Band Hall. He was a member of the former St. Stephen Church, in Cambria City, now Resurrection Parish, where he was an usher for 50 years. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at Resurrection Parish, the Rev. George M. Gulash. Committal will take place at Grandview Cemetery.
