Richard L. Lucas

LUCAS – Richard L., 86, of Johnstown, died March 29, 2019, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born July 17, 1932, in Johnstown the son of Rudolph J. and Josephine M. (Lechak) Lucas. Preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert J. Lucas. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Olga (Koslin) Lucas; children: David, married to Beatrice (Gaydos), of York; Sharon, wife of James Urban, of Pittsburgh; and Brian, married to Gail Clay, of Mechanicsburg; grandchildren: Brennan, Garrett, Nicole and Jared Lucas; nephew, Mark Wharton, married to Sherry (Coshun); nieces, Joann Lucas; Barbara Lucas and Patricia Yuhas; great- nephew, Zachary Wharton; and great-niece Addison Wharton. Richard was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and member of Resurrection Parish. He retired from Greater Johnstown High School where he was a passionate teacher for 40 years.  Richard will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and loyal friend. At Richard’s request there will be no visitation and funeral Mass will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Dr. David Armstrong and Dr. Samuel Massoud for their excellent and compassionate care.
