Robert J. Kucera

KUCERA – Robert J. “Turk”, 91 of Johnstown died March 29, 2018, at LaurelWood Care Center. Born December 25, 1926, in Johnstown the son of Andrew and Mary (Pilot) Kucera. He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers: Leonard, Theodore, and William Kucera. Robert was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was survived by a sister-in-law, Anne “Rey” Kucera. Uncle Mim will be greatly missed by his special niece and caregiver, Kathy Tvarozna, along with his other numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre where he stood guard during the war trials in Japan. Retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp, Robert loved to golf, read, talk with his neighbors and go to Pitt football games. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #175; Olympic Club and Slovak Band Hall.  Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad St. where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, Fr. Matthew Misurda officiating. Committal will be held at Grandview Cemetery with military honors by VFW Menoher Post 155 Ritual Team. The family would like to thank Grane Hospice for the kind and loving care they gave to Robert.
