Robert T. Meagher

MEAGHER- Robert T., 80; Johnstown, died at home, September 23, 2018.  Born November 29, 1937, in Johnstown; son of the late, Thomas F. and Mary J. (Elliott) Meagher. Survived by loving and caring wife of 55 years, Janice M. (Lozanoff) Meagher, and their only child, Douglas married to Kimberly (McGrew); two brothers, Richard of Milwaukee and Thomas in Pittsburgh; and sister, Patricia of Johnstown.  He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Ashlee Seese and her husband, Austin of Nazareth, PA; and Zach McMullen of Johnstown; plus several nieces and nephews, all who he loved very much. They all loved coming to see “Uncle Bob”.  Not having any formal education beyond high school, Bob prided himself on his ability to make a decent living for he and his family.  After his time in the U.S. Army, he worked a number of different professions, some lasting longer than others.  He once said “I never quit a job until I knew I had another one”. He spent many years in the restaurant business from the famous Golden Key Lounge on Main Street and the Distillery in Westmont, to managing the restaurants at both the Elks and Windber Country Club.  He finished up his professional life as a medical equipment rep for Stuarts/Owens-Minor in Greensburg.  He had a passion for golf, which he passed on to his son.  But what he was probably most known for was his ability to talk.  Bob knew everybody and everybody knew Bob.  He couldn’t go anywhere without running into someone he knew.  He had the unique ability to talk to total strangers as if he knew them all his life.  If you ever met Bob, you probably would never forget him.  He certainly will be missed by many.  Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, the Franciscan Friars OFM Conv.  Friends received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G.
