Verna Agnes (Herbert) Furnari

FURNARI – Verna Agnes “GiGi”, 93, Lower Yoder Township died at home, December 27, 2018 with her children at her side. Born January 5, 1925, in Johnstown, daughter of Anastady and Julia (Balitsky) Herbert. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Thomas (2011); siblings: Joseph and Frank Herbert; Anna Czyrnik; Angeline Geisler; and Josephine Edmiston. Survived by  brother, George Herbert (Peggy); sister, Julia Wojcik, Benshoff Hill; children: Antoinette Straub (Dr. Paul), Rolling Hills, CA; Linda Hamryszak, fiancé, Bill Pfeil; and Paulette, special friend, Paul Gaydos; and Thomas (Mary Ann Maslo). Grandchildren: Erik Straub; Jacquelyn (Michael Wright); Morgan; David Hamryszak, (Denise Zapola); Erica (Dan DelSignore); Nicole Furnari; Ryan and Chelsea Furnari; great-grandhildren: Logan Oswalt; Madison Hamryszak; Ava, Olivia and Baby DelSignore; D’Andre, Amare and Giana. Verna worked at Holtzman’s Department Store for 25 years. Member of St. Therese Catholic Church. She was an avid cook, baker and gardener. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sorely missed. Although she will be reunited with the love of her life, Thomas. Friends will be received from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, January 2nd at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, January 3rd at St. Therese Catholic Church, Fr. Bernard Karmanocky, O.F.M. Committal at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
