Ann C. (Szewczyk) Samo

SAMO – Ann C., 95, of Johnstown died September 20, 2021, at home with her daughter Phyllis by her side. Born September 12, 1926, in Johnstown the daughter of Mikolaj and Karolina Szewczyk.  Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Samo; brothers, John Bladek and Edward Szewczyk; and sisters, Valerie Mirro, Mary Uhler, and Helen Podratsky. Ann was the last surviving member of her family.   Survived by her children: Joanne, married to Ted Manges; Joseph; Phyllis, married to Rick Terchanik; Helen Dugan; and George married to Lori; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Ann was a life-long member of the former St. Casimir Church and currently a member of Resurrection Parish. Ann enjoyed making wedding cakes for many years. She loved to dance the jitterbug and polka.  Ann also enjoyed watching the birds and deer in her backyard and state parks and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Resurrection Parish. The family would like to thank the staff of the Allegheny Lutheran Home, Conemaugh Home Health, Asera Care Hospice and her caregivers, daughter Phyllis along with friends Beverly and Patty.  In lieu of flowers donations can be directed to the St. Vincent DePaul Family Kitchen and the Cambria County Humane Society.
