Anna E. Bassi

BASSI - Anna E., 89; Johnstown, passed away on November 14, 2020 at Arbutus Park Manor.  Born September 22, 1931 in Johnstown, daughter of Minot M. and Rhoda (Wirick) Shipman.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Gilbert Bassi; brother, William Shipman and sister, Louise Kurtz.  Survived by loving sons, David married to the former (Mary) Jane Maier, Johnstown; and Carl married to the former Sherry Roskam, St. Louis, MO. Also survived by grandchildren, Christopher Bassi and wife, Tara (Shaffer), Kimberly and husband Eric Futch, Margaret Bassi, Emily and husband Peter Young and Clare Bassi; and great grandchildren, Olivia, Aidan and Jaxon Bassi.  A sister of Ruth Pfarr of Cumberland, MD; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Frick and Shirley Shipman.  Anna was an excellent baker, she loved making and sharing her treats with family and friends, especially her Christmas Cookies.  She was a lifetime volunteer and a dedicated member of the First Lutheran Church.  Due to the coronavirus, a private burial service will be held by immediate family. A memorial celebration of life service will be held at a later day and time. Anna witnessed first hand, the effects of Alzheimer’s on her loving husband, Gilbert. She would make donations to the Alzheimer’s  Association to help research treatments well after her husband’s passing.
