Anna Mae Gates

GATES - Anna Mae, 85; formerly of Scheidinger Street in Lower Yoder Twp., passed away March 25, 2023 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  Born June 19, 1937 in Johnstown, daughter of Paul and Elizabeth (Volchko) Misurda.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Stanford W. Gates; son, Clifford D. Gates; grandson, Thomas Gates Jr.; sister, Mary Hicks; and brothers, John, Paul, George and Alex Misurda.  Survived by loving sons, Thomas Gates Sr., Maryland; Robert Gates married to the former Jackie Blasko, Indiana; Louis Gates married to the former Susan Solich, Johnstown; and Michael Gates married to the former Elizabeth Kush, Gibsonia, PA.  Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Laichak of Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Anna Mae was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Johnstown.  She was a Election Poll Worker in Lower Yoder Precinct.  She enjoyed baking for family and friends, and she had many requests for her baked goods for donations, weddings and events.  Friends received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street where funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday., Pastor Nancy Hoover. Committal will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
