Anthony J. Petrore

PETRORE-  Anthony (AJ), Born March 14, 1963 and passed away at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, MD on July 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife, brother and family members. Preceded in death by parents, Thomas, Sr. and Sue Ann Petrore, Father-in-law, Robert J. Skelly, Mother-in-law, Eileen Skelly and Brother-in-law, Brian Skelly. Survived by his loving wife (who he called his “Princess”) of 31 years, Karen (Skelly), Brother Tom and Sister-in-law Suzie (Sims) and in-laws: Robert and Janet Skelly, Steve and Laurie Polacek, Bryon and Melanie Mihelic.  He was survived by numerous nephews and nieces: Rob, Cortney, Ken, Aaron, Sara, Sam and Leah.  Also survived by 5 Great-nephews Wyatt, Bryson, Emmett, Cal, and Remy. AJ graduated from Johnstown High School, Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a BS in Accounting as well as an MBA.  He also continued his education by obtaining a Masters Certificate with the Defense Acquisition University, received 2 additional Master Degrees from Villanova University for Commercial Contract Management and Government Contract Management.  He worked many places but found his passion with the US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity at Ft. Detrick, MD.  He worked as a Contract Specialist, Procurement Analyst and a Fully-Warranted Contracting Officer for the last 15 years of his long government contracting career. AJ loved to watch F1 and Indycar racing.  AJ was a drummer from the age of 14 and was a member of the JHS Drum Line in 1981.  He played in the local wedding/picnic band “Ed Cosgrove and the Irish Sloviens”. He also loved spending time with his wife, family and friends. He was a kind, gentle person with a dry and sarcastic sense of humor.  He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Friends will be received from 3 – 8 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street.  Funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 9 at St. Therese’s Catholic Church, 536 Decker Avenue.  Burial at Oak Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/donate) in AJ’s memory.
