Anthony M. Sestrich Sr.

SESTRICH - Anthony M. Sr., 89; Benshoff Hill, passed away at home on September 4, 2018. He was born March 2, 1929 in Johnstown, son of Joseph and Rose (Biach) Sestrich.  Preceded in death by parents; son, Robert Sestrich; son-in-law, William R. Konar; brothers, Joseph, John, George, Frank and Stephen Sestrich; and sisters, Anne Skunta, Mary Pekich, Helen Sestrich and Magdalene Sestrich.  Survived by loving wife, of 67 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Hodos) Sestrich; son, Anthony M. Jr., married to the former Audrey Erb; and daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Konar and life partner John Plummer; all of Johnstown.  Also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Anthony was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.  Retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. 11 inch Mill  Division.  He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football fan. A member of the former Catholic War Veterans Post 954 and C.F.U. Lodge #5. A lifelong member of the former St. Rochus Catholic Church, and member of Resurrection Parish, where Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Fr. George Gulash. Committal will be held at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.  Friends received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G.
