Barbara A. (Duranko) Martyak

MARTYAK- Barbara Ann, 91, formerly of Johnstown, died July 3, 2024, at the Homeland Center in Harrisburg, PA. Born October 9,1932, in Johnstown. The daughter of John and Anna (Duray) Duranko. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother, Frederick; brothers, Rev. John Duranko and Timothy Duranko; son-in-law, Bradford Lewis; and sister-in-law, Caroline Duranko. Survived by loving husband Stephen Martyak; children, Susan Lewis of Massachusetts, Kim St. Clair married to Gregory of Pennsylvania, and Mark Martyak married to Patti (Bross) of North Carolina; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Patricia Duranko. Barbara was a teacher’s aid for most of her life. She was a PTA President, a part of the Oakhurst Parent Teachers Guild, and a foster grandparent for the Johnstown School District for 9 years. She was a lifelong member at Christ the Saviour Cathedral where she participated in A.C.R.Y., the choir, taught Russian dancing, was a Sunday school teacher, and a waitress at Christ the Saviour Education Center. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will truly be missed by many. Friends will be received Monday, June 8, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, where Panachida will be held  at 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will take place Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 10 am at Christ the Saviour Cathedral, The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak. Committal will take place at Christ the Savior Cemetery.
