SHOOK – Barbara J., 77, of Johnstown, passed away December 14, 2025, at St. Jude’s Haven, surrounded by her loving children. Born November 5, 1948, in Johnstown, the daughter of John and MaryAnn (Bolha) Jovan. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Edward J. Shook; infant brother, John Jovan; and sisters, MaryAnn Maydak, Shirley Jovan, and Gloria Jovan. Survived by her loving children, Nancy Jordan married to Christopher, and John Shook; grandson, Samuel Jordan; sister, Janet Rummel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara grew up in the Park Hill area of East Taylor. Before Barbara married, she was employed at Monte Carlo’s Candy Store, Royal Plate Glass, Penn Furniture, and Kline’s Clothing Store. Barbara loved spending time with friends, baking, shopping, and crafting. The family would like to especially thank West End Ambulance Service, West Taylor Volunteer Fire Department, St. Jude’s Haven Personal Care Home, and 1 Laurel Highlands Hospice Care for the help and care they provided Barbara. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will truly be missed by many. Friends will be received Monday, December 22, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. (Broad Street). Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Rev, Anthony F. Spilka FF.OFM.C. Committal will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
