MELIKANT – Bernard A., Sr. “Fireball”, 90, of Seward, PA, formerly of Benshoff Hill, Johnstown, passed away September 4, 2020. Born on Easter Sunday, April 20, 1930, in Johnstown, the son of John and Anna (Debnar) Melikant. Preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Margaret Moran; wife Louise (Moran); brothers: William (Mary Agnes) Melikant; John (Helen) Melikant; and Joseph (Olga) Melikan; sisters: Mary Melikant: Helen Melikant: Anna (John) Wos; Margaret (John) McDermott; and Dorothy (Frank) Pompanella; and daughter-in-law, Wendy Melikant. Bernard was the last surviving sibling of his immediate family. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Bowser; sons, Stephen Melikant and Bernard Melikant, Jr. (Nancy); grandchildren: Dawn and Kate; great-grandchildren: Grayson, Korrigan, Sierra, Abby, Allan and Brooklyn; sister-in-law, Arleen (Vince) Schaffer, and several nieces and nephews. Bernard was formerly employed by Bethlehem Steel in the Axel Plant and was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church. By request, there was no viewing and a private interment was held at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.
