LONCAR - David M., 59 of Johnstown, died unexpectedly on March 1, 2021. He was born June 18, 1961 and was preceded in death by his father Frank Loncar and two infant brothers. He is survived by his beloveds: mother Joan Loncar and longtime companion Dr. Nina Girard, both of Johnstown. Also survived by brother Frank (Gert) Loncar of Sherrills Ford, NC; nephew Joshua (Katrina) Loncar of Carnegie; niece Amanda (Rob) Kloo of Mooresville, NC; and nephew Damian (Jamie) Loncar of Advance, NC. Great uncle to Zachary, Alexander, Elliot, Isaac, and Eliza. David was adoringly known as “Bonk” by many of his longtime friends, including Neil Santichen, Peach Pundzak, Iggy Sprincz, among many others. He graduated from Greater Johnstown Vocational-Technical School in 1979 and was a Gemological Institute of America diamonds graduate and gemologist. David was known as “your personal jeweler” as owner of Orion Jewelers, Westmont. He was a lifetime member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America (CFU Lodge #5) and a member of Johnstown Rifle & Pistol Club. David enjoyed vacationing at the beach with Nina, relaxing in the pool, playing trivia, gem mining, pistol shooting, reading, and was an avid Steelers fan. His faith was also very important to him. David was generous and kind, greeted everyone with a warm smile, was easily liked and respected by many, and known as an interesting and intelligent conversationalist. Due to David’s conviction of the importance of COVID-19 practices, private viewing/visitation for family only. A Catholic funeral Mass will held Monday, March 8, 11:00am at St. Therese Church, Decker Ave, Johnstown. Committal at Grandview Cemetery at a late date. A celebration of David’s life is being planned for this summer. Monetary contributions may be made in David’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family is being served by Francis G. Ozog
Funeral Home.
