Edward Krupa of Johnstown passed away January 25, 2025 at the age of 91. He was born April 11, 1933 to the late Joseph and Helen Krupa. On June 13, 1959 he married Genevieve Skala, the love of his life, who proceeded him in death in 2024.
He will be missed by his loving daughters Melissa Bosley (Alf Dipaola), Janine (Nina) Crichton (David), Stephanie Polca (Jerry); son Mark Krupa; grandchildren Lauren Bosley (Dave Effinger), Evan Krupa (Katie), Amanda Polca, and Emily Krupa; and great-grandchildren Lucas Effinger, Karlie and Phoebe Krupa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jean; an infant grandson; brothers Frank, John, and Joseph; and sisters Mary Ritchey and Dolores Inman.
He is survived by brothers Eugene (Ethel) Krupa and Michael (Kathy) Krupa; sister Patricia Alvarez; brother in law Casmir Skala of New Jersey; sister in law Elizabeth Skala of Ohio, cousin Mert Gritzer; and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was a 1951 graduate of Johnstown High School. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he was a member of the basketball team. He served in the US Army and Army Reserves from 1953 to 1962 when he was honorably discharged. When he returned home he operated the Sheri-Den with his aunt Mary Adamy. He ultimately retired from M. Glosser and Sons. Ed was a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan and his “quiet room” always had a loud game playing on the television. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Brownstown Golf Association. You could also often find him sitting by the water fishing.
During his life he was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Brownstown, St. Francis of Assisi Church, and St. Therese Church. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree.
Friends will be received Wednesday January 29 from 4-7 PM at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., 701 Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held at St, Therese Church Decker Avenue, Thursday January 30, at 11:00 AM. Fr. Bernard Karmanocky, OFM and Fr. Francis Balestino concelebrants. Committal at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Therese Church building fund.
