Eleanor M. Hornick

HORNICK - Eleanor M., 86, Johnstown, passed away June 13, 2018. Born October 29,1931, in Johnstown, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Voytko. June 14 would have marked the 66th wedding anniversary of Eleanor and her late husband, Paul Jr. Survived by brother, Dr. Richard Voytko and wife Winnie; sisters, Ruth Kemerer and husband Bob, and Alice Voytko; sons, Paul and wife Karen, Dave and wife Pat, Mark and wife Suzanne, Jeff; and daughter, Debby Pearce. Also survived by grandchildren Dan and wife Stacy, Emily, William, Nicholas, Luke; and great-grandchildren Daniel and Madelyn. Eleanor was a member of the Ferndale High School Class of 1949 and was married at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brownstown in 1952. She was formerly employed as secretary for a New England Life insurance agent. She worked very hard to help clean up the family store, Hornick's Hardware and Sporting Goods, after the devastating 1977 Johnstown Flood. She later served as the BATF compliance administrator for the business. She was proud to be an apheresis donor for the Red Cross for many years. She loved going to Senior Life and couldn't wait to see her friends and caregivers there each day. Eleanor cherished her family and made it her life mission to "take care of everybody". A wonderful, compassionate lady, she always put others first. The family sincerely thanks Senior Life Johnstown, Laurel Wood Care Center, Upper Yoder EMS and Conemaugh Hospital emergency room personnel for their compassion and care. At Eleanor's request, there will be no visitation. Arrangements are in care of Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Altoona-Johnstown Diocese. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Westmont, Rev. Bernard Karmanocky, O.F.M. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
