Eleanor A. (Nemcheck) Vantroba

VANTROBA – Eleanor A., 91, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully February 24, 2021, at Windber Hospice. Born October 25, 1929, in Johnstown the daughter of Daniel Nemcheck and Anna (Molchany) Nemcheck-Lewis and her husband John Lewis. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Theodore Vantroba; sister, Louise Moudy; and brothers, Robert and Donald Nemcheck. Eleanor was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her children: Kathy, married to Kevin Hartwiger; Ted, married to Audrey; Cindy, married to Tim Allison; Pam, married to Bill Nemeth; Larry and special friend Laura; and Sharon, married to Ron Hickey; grandchildren: Karen McAleer, Kristopher, Katelyn and Kelsey Hartwiger; Teddy and Jason Vantroba; Christy Smith; Nate Allison; Mandy Kurtz and Bill Nemeth, Jr.; Courtney, Amanda and Zachary Vantroba; Travis, Joshua and Brianna Hickey; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; and sisters-in-law, Romaine Nemcheck and Elizabeth Vantroba. Eleanor was retired from Toy Ladies. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she was a member of the funeral choir, the funeral brunch ladies and a festival volunteer.  She was a member of the Johnstown Senior Center Serenaders, the Golden Strutters, and the Nightingales Singing Group. Eleanor had a love for line dancing, polka dancing with her husband and taking bus trips to casinos. Special thanks to Windber Hospice who took care of Eleanor in her final days. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, where there will be a visitation at 9 a.m., the Very Rev. James F. Crookston officiating. Committal Grandview Cemetery.
