DURANKO – Elizabeth Jean, 89, of Johnstown, passed away June 2, 2026, at Hilltop Heights Health and Rehab Center. Born November 11, 1936, in Johnstown, the daughter of Peter Sr. and Helen (Chupko) Duranko. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Dorothy McClurkin, Rose Mary Duranko, Helen Salerno, and Catherine Kepple; brother, Peter Duranko Jr.; sister-in-law, Mary (Carothers) Duranko; and brothers-in-law, Eugene Salerno, Clifford Kepple, and Robert Carothers. Survived by sisters, Mary Lou Carothers, and Margaret Rita Duranko; brothers, Joseph Duranko, and George Duranko; sister-in-law, Janet (Bartok) Duranko; brothers-in-law, Chris Peters, and Harry McClurkin; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elizabeth had a generous heart and a deep love for her family. She was known for never missing a birthday, always making sure her loved ones felt remembered and celebrated. Over her years, she enjoyed shopping, attending church, and spending time playing games at Senior Life, where she formed many cherished friendships. Elizabeth showed her care for others in countless ways and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She especially treasured movie dates with her sisters, who all enjoyed gathering together to watch Blue Bloods. A wealth of knowledge, Elizabeth seemed to know a little about everything, from family history and treasured stories to current events. Whenever a question arose, she was often the one with the answer. Her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Church, where a Funeral Mass will be held on June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., Fr. Timothy Fariss. Committal will follow at St. Mary's Byzantine Cemetery. Friends will be received Friday, June 12, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc.
