Elizabeth Spisak Obituary

SPISAK – Elizabeth (Betty), 92, of Johnstown, PA, passed away peacefully at Westmont Woods on March 2, 2026. Born March 29, 1933, in Johnstown, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Dollar) Knapp. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; daughter, Theresa; and siblings Frank, Margaret Dayok, Ray, and Jean Saylor. Betty is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Betty is survived by her loving son, Lawrence; and the apple of her eye, granddaughter Abby Panek (Cody) Fetterman, whom Betty helped support after her daughter's passing. She is also survived by her in-laws, Robert & Tammy Spisak, William Spisak, Betty (Ohio), many loving nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Mom was a vibrant, hard-working wife, mother, and grandmother. Upon graduation from Conemaugh Township High School, she worked at Woolworth’s and moved from Somerset Pike to the “city,” married, and became the mother of her twin “angels.” She thrived on being active in her church by supporting feast day dinners, gob making, and nut rolls. She took pride in working long days with her friends and having relationships throughout her life. Her faith was important to her, and she cherished her daily rosary. Mom had a love of ice cream and puff cheese balls, reading the newspaper, and watching the news.

In 1996, Betty received a liver transplant through the generosity of a family who lost their only son, Eric, in a drunk driving accident.

Gracious thanks to all the staff of QLS at Westmont Woods who loved mom. This was her home and she was happy there. They will miss her sharp wit, smile and sense of style.
