LENGYEL, EMERICH (EMERY) C., 91, of Reno, NV, formerly of Johnstown, PA, died August 29, 2022 in hospice care in Fernley, NV. Born February 8, 1931 in Johnstown, the son of Joseph and Bertha (Fabian) Lengyel, he was a graduate of Johnstown High School and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951, serving on active duty for four years. Following his military service, he worked as a radar engineer for the Gilfillan Radar Development and Manufacturing Company (later ITT-Gilfillan) in Europe. Upon retirement in the United States, he lived first in Tahoe City, CA, and later in Reno, where he owned a small antique business, “Antiques & Treasures.” Emery enjoyed travels to Hungary, where he pursued genealogical research, and to Germany. Emery was preceded in death by his siblings, Bertha Yamnitzky, Albert, Alexander, Joseph Jr., Margaret Lee, and John, as well as by nephews Barry and Jeremy Lengyel. He is survived by step-children Tammie (Spivey) Thomas and Thomas Spivey, and step-grandchildren Brady and Brittany Thomas and Greig and Kenji Spivey, by nephews David Lengyel, John and James Yamnitzky, Mark, Jeffrey, and Douglas Lee, and nieces Sondra Skibiak and Valerie Lewis, as well as several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc. located at 710 Broad Street, Johnstown, PA 15906. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will conclude at approximately 12:00 PM with a brief religious service at the funeral home. Committal will be immediately following at Grandview Cemetery.
