Frank Safko

SAFKO - Frank, 93; Johnstown, passed away March 31, 2022 at Richland Healthcare and Rehabilitation.  Born May 5, 1928 in Johnstown, son of Michael and Mary (Bundja) Safko.  Preceded in death by parents; wife, Martha (Burkhardt) Safko; and brothers, John Safko, Michael Safko and Joseph Safko.  Survived by children, Deborah Janezic and husband Mark, Reading, PA; Susan Safko, Johnstown; Francis married to the former Michelle Rose, Homer City; and Mark Safko of Johnstown; and grandchildren, Jason and Justin Janezic; Michael (Sarah) Safko, Samantha (Logan) Cusimano, and Clinton Safko; and great granddaughter Huntleigh Safko. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved pet “Abby”.  He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. Frank was retired from the City of Johnstown Fire Department. A member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, where Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m., the Rev. Msgr. Raymond Balta.  Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery, where the Conemaugh Valley Detachment #287 Marine Corps League will hold honors.  Friends received on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Francis G.
