LAYTON – Freda I. (Page), 96, of Ligonier, formerly of Johnstown, died September 20, 2022, at Bethlen Home, Ligonier. Born May 23, 1926, in Johnstown the daughter of Clair and Hazel (Rice) Page. Preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Irvin D. Layton; son, Daniel Layton; brother, Clair Page; and son-in-law, Bob Zimmerman. Survived by her sons: Brion (Terri); and Calvin; daughter Coleen Zimmerman; grandchildren: Aaron (Becky Weiss) Layton, Heather (Julian) Duffey, Michael, Sr. (Melissa) Zimmerman, Kristi (Russell) Deemer, Adam Layton, Cory (Catherine) Layton, Katybeth (Jordan) Jones, Marie (Philip) Reale, and Ross Keiser; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Connor, Casey (Vincent, Sr.), Samuel, Hosea, Russell, Michael Jr., Jacob, Ryan, Breana, Ethen, Gabriella, Hannah, Rowe, Nova, Oak, Enzo, Cooper, Holden, Elise, and Avaya; and great-great-grandchildren: William, Arabella and Vincent Jr. Freda was a member of the Beulah United Methodist Church where she volunteered in the nursery for many years and was also a volunteer at the Lee Hospital’s Bear Clinic. She loved to crochet, play cards, and teaching her grandchildren how to play. The family would like to thank the staff of the Bethlen Home for the kind and loving care they gave to Freda during her time there. Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc. where funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Pastor Paul McCracken officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Freda.
