Fredrick James Kerestesy, 85, husband of Mary Sue Mayo Kerestesy, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Lexington, KY. Born February 1, 1939, in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late Andrew and Theresa Komisar Kerestesy. Fred served his country proudly in the United States Navy enlisting in 1957 and honorable discharged in 1961. He graduated from Tri-State College in Angola, IN, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He worked for IBM first in Poughkeepsie, NY and retired from the IBM plant in Lexington, KY in 2000. Along with his wife Mary he is survived by a stepson, Justin (Jami) Barnett; sisters, Marie ( Very Rev. John) Brancho and Evelyn (Frank) Rolley, both of Johnstown, PA; grandchildren, Jesse Graham Barnett and Jalyn Barnett (Juel) Crum of Lexington, KY and many nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to his VA care team, HBC Virginia Taylor and Ken Bowling for caring and support. Heartfelt thanks to Father Tom Gallaway and Jeanette for their love and care of Fred. Mr. Kerestesy will be having a public visitation from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.a traditional Orthodox funeral at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown, PA, The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak, September 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. He will be laid to rest at the Christ the Saviour Cemetery in Johnstown, PA. The VFW Post 155 will be presenting Military Honors
