Gary Pavlosky Obituary

PAVLOSKY – Gary L., 77, of Johnstown, died April 8, 2025, at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Born February 2, 1948, in Johnstown the son of William and Verna (Rager) Pavlosky. Preceded in death by parents; brother, William Jr.; and sisters, Betty Shearer, Charlotte Gehlmann, and Wilma Peterson. Survived by loving wife, Karen (Leech) Pavlosky; daughter, Tarra (Heath) Pavlosky of Ohio; grandchildren, Allison Dull and Alex Dull; brothers, Richard (Lois) Pavlosky and Donald (Pamela) Pavlosky; sisters, Janet L. Allen and Mary Ann (Barry) Majerski; sister-in-law, Tammy Derenak-Kaufax (Alan) of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was a graduate from Johnstown High School. At a young age Gary began delivering newspapers for the Tribune-Democrat. When Gary was 18, he became fully employed with the Tribune-Democrat where he retired decades later as a composing supervisor. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting with his father and two brothers at the family Camp. Gary was also an avid reader, a coin collector, and enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a true animal lover and particularly loved his fur grandbaby Tazz. Gary was also a member of the Knight of Columbus and a member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Gary was a proud United States Army Veteran who was stationed in Germany and served his country during the Vietnam War. Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will truly be missed by many.  Friends will be received Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral mass will follow at St. John Gualbert Cathedral at 1:00 p.m., Very Rev. Matthew B. Baum. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Military Honors will be presented by the V.F.W. Post 155 Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Gary to the National Kidney Foundation at https://www.kidney.org/.
