Genevieve B. Gates

GATES - Genevieve "Jennie" (Leech), 96 of Johnstown, died February 11, 2020 at Arbutus Park Manor with her loving family by her side. Born December 18, 1923, in Johnstown, daughter of John and Johanna (Kuzniar) Leech. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Joseph, Walter, Anthony and Edward; and sisters, Ann Leech, Mary Louise Leech, Angeline Peterman, Eleanor Pohalski and JoAnn Walat. Survived by loving husband of 76 years Merle, loving daughter Carole Ann Cobaugh, Hanover Maryland, special friend Mary Pannone who she thought of as a daughter, sister-in-law Catherine Leech and numerous nieces and nephews. Jennie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Jennie was formerly employed at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital, as a Food Production Manager. She was a long time member of St Patrick Rosary Society and Catholic Church. She was a devoted wife and mother. She loved traveling to Maryland to visit with her daughter, loved going to Casinos, Atlantic City and Las Vegas. She was an avid bingo player and mixed league bowler. Jennie loved hosting family get togethers. She was a terrific cook famous for her Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing and her New Year's dumplings and sauerkraut. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Arbutus Park Manor Crossroads for the excellent care and love they showed for Jennie. Thank you also to the Crossroads staff for the beautiful prayer service. Friends received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020 Francis G.
