George Toth Obituary

TOTH - George B., died Thursday September 30, 2021, at Windber Hospice, Windber, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret (Muchesko) Toth and George Toth, Jr. George graduated with honors from the University of Pittsburgh and was enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He also attended the Byzantine Catholic Seminary located in Pittsburgh, PA. Until recently, George had been a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Johnstown, PA. Despite many health challenges that George faced throughout his life, his faith and spirituality remained strong. He watched several times during the day on EWTN the liturgies and prayed daily the Rosary. When talking to George, he always ended his conversation with “I will pray for you.”  George was a resident of Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg, PA. He participated in many arts and crafts activities, bowled at Richland Lanes, and was elected and maintained his leadership with the Center’s Resident Group. Prior to being a resident of Cambria Care Center, George’s favorite pastimes were the fishing trips that he took with his Dad. There were distant fishing trips, rather than ones that were local. George also spent time with his Mom and Dad cheering his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. His keen intellectual ability made it easy for him to explain various sport’s statistics to anyone. George will be missed by his cousins: John (Ellie) Muchesko, Tom (Karen) Muchesko, Cindy (Jim) Marunich, Bill (Dana) Muchesko, Linda (Brian) Wade, Joan Cisz, Bonnie (Dick) Anton, Luella Bantley and Elsie Hildebrand. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday followed by a Funeral Liturgy for the remembrance of George at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Msgr. Raymond A. Balta officiating. Committal will take place at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions in George’s memory can be made to St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 411 Power Street, Johnstown, PA 15906.
