Gerald Maser Obituary

MASER - Gerald F., "Jerry," 65, Johnstown, passed away Oct. 22, 2024, at Conemaugh Hospital. Born Dec. 21, 1958, in Johnstown, son of Ralph "Fritz" and Ella Jane (Beyer) Maser. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Amanda Mae Maser; son, Matthew Maser; and infant brothers, Stephen and Richard Maser. Survived by loving wife, Teri (Stefanik) Maser, of Johnstown; stepson, Justin Vardian, and his wife Jylian; grandchildren, Ryleigh, Emilee and Madison; and stepgrandchildren, Leo and Geneva. A brother of George Maser, and his wife Debra (Biggerstaff), of Greensburg. He is also survived by special aunt and godmother, Theresa Beyer; nephew, Louie; niece, Kaitlyn; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry was very active throughout his life with many baseball organizations. He was a coach at the age of 15 and continued to have an impact on baseball in our region. Some of the organizations he was a part of include, St. Therese Little League, GJYL, Pony, Colt and City Leagues. He had coached for St. Therese Patriots, Kutch's Pizza, Ideal Market,  Ziggy's Sports, Johnstown Construction, Moxham PNA, First Summit Bank, Mainline Pharmacy, West Surburban Little League and Johnstown High School.  He was instrumental in running St. Therese League for many years. He was the manager for the 2017, 13U Pony League, Moxham PNA World Series Team. Jerry was an active pool player and champion in the TAP, Johnstown City and West End Leagues, and gifted poker player, even making the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, where he played alongside his "brotha from anotha motha", VInce DeRosa. A member of the Minersville PNA, Russian Club, First Catholic Slovak Band Hall, and Tremont Club. He also was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Bernard Karmonocky, OFM. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Friends received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Johnstown High School Baseball Boosters in memory of Jerry Maser. Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com.
