Helen L. (Hovanec) Machowski

MACHOWSKI – Helen L., 98, of Johnstown, died August 4, 2020, at Amber Springs at LaurelWood. Born April 20, 1922, in Johnstown the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Meholchin) Hovanec. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward J. Machowski; children: Elaine, Donald, and James; son-in-law, George Duray; sisters: Ann Cicon, Margaret Hovanec, and Mary Loncella; and brothers: Joseph, John and Stephen Hovanec. She is survived by her loving children: William, married to Bridget (Ragno) Machowski; Loretta Duray; Edward, married to Cindy Miller; and John Machowski; grandchildren: Valerie, Scott, Jason, Stacy, Lindsey, Aaron, Andrea, Allison, Sarah, and Christopher; great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Dominic, Cicily, Blake, and Gavin; sister, Martha Waskovich; and brother, Andrew Hovanec. Helen was a member of the former St. Casimir Catholic Church and currently a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church where funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, the Very Rev. Mark S. Begly, VF officiating. Helen will be remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother whose life was centered on family and God. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Committal will take place at St. Casimir Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Amber Springs at LaurelWood Care Center in memory of Helen.
