James B. Slebodnik

SLEBODNIK – James, 61, of Johnstown, died May 12, 2022.  Born October 9, 1960, in Johnstown the son of Thomas and Mary Louise (Gajewski) Slebodnik. Preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard and Tomas Slebodnik. Survived by daughter, Jamie, wife of Brian Schmidt; grandchildren: Eric, Anthony, Brandon, and Emma Schmidt; brothers and sisters: Robert, married to Sue (Fair); Theresa, wife of Rickey Rager; Michael married to Maryanne (LaTorre); Daniel, married to Padma (Hukmani); Mary Beth, wife of Tom Koscienski; carol, wife of Mike Klotz; and Tina, wife of Jeff McKissick. Jim was a US Army Veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division serving in Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Operation Just Cause in Panama. He was an employee of SCI Somerset where he served as a correction officer.  A member of Resurrection Roman Catholic Church where a funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 21st. Committal at St. Stephen Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 20th at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad street. Jim will be remembered as a kind and loving father, grandfather and brother who loved sleepovers with the grandchildren.  He enjoyed cooking and feeding his family and friends. The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Jim.
