WERNER - James C., 96; Johnstown. Passed away May 26, 2021 at Conemaugh Hospital. Born October 10, 1924 in New Baltimore, PA; son of Cletus and Adelaide (Benning) Werner. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Helen Marie (Rodkey) Werner; son, Jerry Werner; granddaughter, Caroline Werner; and siblings, Ruth, Tom, Kathryn, June, Joe, Dan, Blanche and Carroll Ann. Survived by children, Brenda and husband Chuck Polacek, of Salix; James Werner and friend Wendy Dolges, Jeffrey Werner and wife Nancy, Rhonda and husband Chip Grasso, Melia Werner, all of Johnstown; and Brian Werner and wife Sharon, Dearborn, MI. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A brother of Mary Jane Zupan, Dorothea Hoag, John Werner, Nancy Kennedy, Robert Werner and Charles Werner; and numerous nieces and nephews. James served in the U.S. Army 359th A.A.A. at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. He and his wife Marie attended all 50 years of the 359th Armory Reunion. He retired from First National Bank and was employed for 35 years at A&P Market. He was a proud voter, never missing a vote in 75 years. A member of the Richland American Legion 849, former C.W.V. Post 956; A lifetime member of the former St. Columba Catholic Church where he was Eucharist Minister and Usher; and member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral, where Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, the Very Rev. James E. Crookston. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery, where V.F.W. Post 155 Ritual Team will bestow military honors. Friends received Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G.
