Joan Laura (Bumbernick) Loncar

Joan was a loving wife and devoted mother, a kind and caring friend to many, and a giver of time, talent and treasure to her church, St Therese, and the Johnstown community.

Joan was born December 10, 1930, lived her life in Johnstown’s West End and attended the old Immaculate Conception Church and School, and Catholic High (Bishop McCort). 

She married her beloved husband of 48 years and lifetime friend, Frank, at Immaculate Conception Church May 12, 1951 and then became a parishioner at St Therese Church for 73 years.  She dedicated countless hours to the church as a Eucharistic Minister (20 yrs.), Stephen’s Minister (12 yrs.) and Catechist (16 yrs.) and served the community and those in need through various roles at The St. Vincent DePaul Society. She is survived by her son Frank and wife Gert (Greecher) Loncar, grandsons; Joshua and wife Katrina (Diehl) Loncar, Damian and wife Jamie (Aschom) Loncar, granddaughter Amanda (Loncar) and husband Robert Kloo, great grandchildren; Zachary, Alexander and Eliza Loncar, Isaac and Elliot Kloo. Also, her sister Theresa Crislip and Dr Nina Girard whom she loved as her daughter. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Frank, devoted son David, two infant sons, parents Joseph and Agnes (Zachral) Bumbernick, brother William, sisters Regina Venet, Anna Mary Haberkorn, SR. Laura, CDP and SR. Benigna, CDP.

Joan offers the love and affection of her long life to her extended families: the Bumbernicks, Crislips, Haberkorns, Resslers, Bises, Kuzmas, Podbensaks and Pfeils.

A remembrance celebration with a brief prayer service will be held from 3:00PM to 7:00PM Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11am Monday, September 25, 2023 at St. Therese Catholic Church. Committal will follow at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joan's name to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County (NC) at www.hoic.org
