Joann Szczur

SZCZUR – Joann, "Tootsie", 86; of Johnstown, died December 20, 2021 at home, with her loving family by her side. Born June 17, 1935, in Johnstown, daughter of Andrew J. Jr. and Anna M. (Spisak) Bellak.  Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter “Pops” “Fudgy” Szczur; son, Stephen Szczur and sister Eleanor Miller.  Survived by devoted sons, Vincent and wife Rose; and Kenneth and wife Shelley; grandchildren: Diane and husband Josh, Julie, Matthew and wife Melissa, Jonathan and wife Aubree, Stephanie and husband Johnathon Maurizio, Kiersten and fiancée Mike Kastelic, Kayley and Kara;  great grandchildren, Candice, Lydia, Cali, Lily, Bryson; and daughter-in-law, Mary Lou (Gall) Szczur. A sister of Anna Mae Pavlosky (Edward), Dorothy Bellak, Andrew M. Bellak (Sharon), Janet Calka (William) and Jerry K. Bellak (Wendy), all of Johnstown.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Joanne lived for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved having weekly family dinners and enjoyed Sunday trips to the Quemahoning Dam.  She also enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show. She was a member of the former St. Casimir Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church.  The family would like to thank Interim Hospice Care team of Amy, Katie, Valerie and the rest of the crew for their assistnce and support in Joann's time of need.  Friends will be received from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where funeral service will be held at 7:30p.m. Fr. Francis Balestino officiating. Private committal will be held at St. Casimir Cemetery.
