John L. Deter

DETER - John L., 92; Johnstown, passed away June 1, 2019 at Conemaugh Hospital, surrounded by loving family.  Born September 21, 1926 in Johnstown, son of Alden J. and C. Eleanor (Schonhardt) Deter.  Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Theresa Taggart; son-in-law, David Griffiths; and brother William Deter.  Survived by loving wife, of 68 years, Mary Theresa (Koenig) Deter; and children, Patricia (Michael Baum); William (Charlene Omodio); James (Sue); Kathleen (David Ross); Margaret Griffiths; John (Mary Jane Delic) and son-in-law, Kurt Taggart.  Also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  A World War II Navy Veteran. Graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School Class of 1944 and St. Francis College Class of 1950.  A member of Visitation BVM Catholic Church, where Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. John Slovikovski.  Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.  Friends received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G.
