John George Fabina

FABINA—John George, 88; Johnstown, passed away on January 7, 2020 at Conemaugh Hospital.  Born December 23, 1931 in Johnstown, son of John and Catherine (Schmidt) Fabina. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Bernadine R. (Hrbal) Fabina; sisters, Mary Sikirica, Jenny Babich and Agnes Nemcheck; brothers, Frank Fabina and Thomas Fabina; son-in-law, “Dutch” Price.  Survived by loving children, Marcie Price, Sue Dorofey (and husband Bud), Kathy Babik, Kenneth Fabina (Velma) and Stephanie Fabina; grandchildren, Brenda Gruss (and husband Joe), and Alex Babik; and great granddaughter, Avareigh Gruss, all of Johnstown.  A brother of Ann Novosel of Johnstown; and Helen Polonia of Florida.  Also survived by brother-in-law, John Hrbal and beloved dog, “Bruno”.  A United States Army veteran of the Korean War.  Retired Bethlehem Steel Corp. Car Shop Division.    A former member of the Woodvale O.C., and Croatian Hall.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  A member of St. John Gaulbert Cathedral, where Funeral Mass will be held, 1:00 p.m. Friday, the Very Rev. James F. Crookston.  Committal will take place at Grandview Mausoleum.  Friends received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Francis G.
