POHLIT – John C., 80, of Johnstown, died November 12, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital. Born July 20, 1944, in Johnstown, the son of Charles and Mary Ellen (Yost) Pohlit, who preceded him in death. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years Eva (McNiven) Pohlit; daughters, Patricia Ann Pohlit and Debbie Patterson; grandson, William C. Dill; granddaughters, Megan Patterson and Catherine Pohlit; and former son-in-law, Harry Dill. John served his country with the United States Navy for 6 years. After serving in the Navy John went on to work in set typing for the Tribune-Democrat, where he later retired after 33 years. John enjoyed watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold ’EM, traveling to Atlantic City and Vegas with Eva. The family would like to especially thank Conemaugh Hospital and the staff at Select Specialty for the continuous care and support they offered to John. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will truly be missed by many. Friends will be received Wednesday November 20, 2024, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. The Windber American Legion will hold honors at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. at 10 a.m. Funeral Service will take place at 12 P.M. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Committal will follow at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. . In lieu of flowers donations can be made in John’s memory to Windber Hospice.
