John Skunta

SKUNTA - John, 71 Johnstown, passed away on September 28, 2021.  Born April 13, 1950 in Johnstown, son of John T. Jr. and Anne (Sestrich) Skunta.  Preceded in death by parents; and brother, James Skunta.  Survived by sister, Maria Skunta of Johnstown; aunts, Joanne Sestrich, Angelina Komara, Florence Visovsky and Betty Sestrich; and numerous cousins and family.  John was a good son and brother, he will be sadly missed by all that knew him, especially by his sister Maria whom loved him deeply.  John was a Bishop McCort Graduate Class of 1968; graduate of University of Pittsburgh and received his Masters of Education at St. Francis University. Retired teacher with the Greater Johnstown School District. He also coached girls basketball for various schools and teams. John enjoyed time with his family and friends at the C.F.U. Lodge #5, where he was a lifetime member.  Friends received Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street. Funeral Mass will be held at Resurrection Parish on Friday at 11:00 a.m. the Rev. William E. Rosenbaum celebrant. Committal will follow at Benshoff Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West End Food Pantry in his memory.  Condolences may be sent at fgozogfuneralhome.com
