SLADKI - John J. Jr. “Jack”, “Blade”, 79; Johnstown, passed away on July 10, 2024 at home. Born February 3, 1945 in Johnstown, son of John J. Sr. and Anna M. (DeVorchik) Sladki. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Laverne Ling; brother-in-law, George Ling. Survived by wife, Gina (Kadar) Sladki, of Johnstown; daughter, Breann Sladki of Boalsburg; sister, Dianne Thoburn of Johnstown; nephews, Barry, David and Robert (Charlene) Ling; and his fur daughter, “Gabby”. He was a graduate of Penn State University, where he was a defensive back under Joe Paterno and a member of the “All Decade Team” (1960-1969). He was a retired teacher and football coach for Greater Johnstown High School. A member of the former St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in the West End. John loved meeting and talking to people. He always had time to stop and talk and share a laugh with neighbors, tenants, or just random people he ran into. “God blessed us with 27 wonderful years together, filled with PSU Tailgating, numerous home remodels and oh so many restaurants. He was my true love and will forever be my always.” Friends received Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., Broad Street, where funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Dennis Forosisky. Committal will follow at Grandview Mausoleum.
