THOMAS – John E. “Yuno”, 77, of Johnstown, died January 5, 2022, at his residence. Born July 6, 1944, in Johnstown the son of Joseph and Margaret (Dudak) Thomas. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Furman; brother-in-law, Richard Rokita. Survived by his sons, Scott, married to Judith (Yahner) Thomas; Craig, married to Melissa (Metzgar) Thomas; and Jeff Thomas; grandchildren, Jarin (Ashes), Joshua, Curtis (Britany), Shane, Kasey, and Molly; great-grandchildren: Maya, Zoie, and Aidan; brother, Robert, married to Darlene (Allison) Thomas; and Nancy Rokita. Also survived by former wife, Nancy (Zahoran) Thomas along with numerous nieces and nephews. John was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War serving on the USS Little Rock CLG-4 from 1964-1966. He was retired from Ferndale Elementary School where he was a beloved member of the Ferndale family. John was a former coach at Lorain Moxham Little League, Ferndale Junior High Football, Ferndale Girls Softball, Middle Taylor Flag Football, and was an avid wrestling dad. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and St. Louis Cardinals but was mostly a devoted and loving grandfather. Funeral Procession will gather to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street to Benshoff Hill Cemetery where a graveside service will be held. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Menoher Post 155 Ritual Team.
