Joseph L Cieslo

Cieslo - Joseph L., 82, of Johnstown passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023.  He was born on September 18, 1940 in Johnstown, son of Leo and Helen (Simko) Cieslo.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Francis, Robert and Donald. Crockett and Tubbs, his two beloved cats, are already waiting for him in Heaven.  He is survived by Diane, his wife of 34 years, son Joseph J. Cieslo, daughter-in-law Candace and grandchildren Zachary, Charlize, and Max of Florida, and sister, Roberta Buchko of Johnstown.
As a young man he attended St. Casimir's school and Bishop McCort.  Joe enjoyed working for the Department of Environmental Protection for almost 40 years. He served in the Army National Guard for 24 years. He worked with Pete Chido as a “retirement job” doing surveys for several years.  Another retirement job was at Memorial Chevrolet. He had a really good work ethic and held several “extra” jobs during his lifetime, including a private investigator in Florida for a time giving him a great amount of interesting and funny stories to tell.  He was a past president and recording secretary of the St. Clair Tremont Club and a member of several other clubs including The Greater Ferndale Sportsmens Club. He liked shooting trap and to keep busy. It seemed he knew everyone he met and enjoyed talking to everyone.  He was always there to help anyone who needed it.  He could do or figure out how to do just about anything.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and owned several boats over the years spending a lot of time at Lake Raystown. Until the last few years of COVID, and slowing down a bit due to age, he and his wife enjoyed being “out and about” together throughout their marriage. He might not be the first person to arrive at an event, but he was usually one of the last to leave and if cleanup was needed, he was right there to help. He will be greatly missed. Friends will be received Monday, January 30th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 31st at 11 a.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc., committal following at Grandview Cemetery.
