Joseph Mesnak Obituary

MESNAK – Joseph J., 93, of Johnstown, passed away February 24, 2021, at home. Born Novmeber 11, 1927, in Johnstown the son of Thomas and Catherine (Grassa) Mesnak. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Francis and Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Agnes M. (Furnari) Mesnak; daughters: Sharon, married to Paul Hutzell, Karen, married to Martin Harnish, Christine, married to Jeffrey LaPorta, and Monica, married to Rand Kutchman; grandchildren: Lisa Miller, Rodney Hunsinger, Jeffrey Hunsinger, Ivann Harnish, Adamn Harnish, Kyle Harnish, Kelsey Andolina, Thomas Luke Pisarczyk, Jenna Kutchman, Jonny Kutchman and Krista Kutchman; 8 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Edward, Rudolph and Walter Mesnak. Joseph was a US Airforce Veteran where he was a Staff Sergeant and a member of the former St. Rochus Catholic Church where he was an usher, participated in the Folk Mass, was a member of the Tamburitzans, and was very active in various other church activities. He is currently a member of Resurrection Parish.  When Joseph was younger he enjoyed bowling and would travel to participate in bowling tournaments. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp where he worked as a supervisor in the car shop division. Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Resurrection Parish, Fr. George M. Gulash officiating.  Committal at Richland Cemetery Mausoleum with military rites by the VFW Menocher Post 155 Ritual Team.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Avenue, Windber, PA 15963, in memory of Mr. Mesnak. The family would like to thank Joseph’s caregivers Betty, Tina, Jenn, LeAnn along with the nurses and staff of Windber Hospice for the kind and loving care they provided.
