Karen Irene Heptner

HEPTNER – Karen Irene, 69, of Johnstown, passed away January 17, 2023. Born February 27, 1953, in Johnstown to the late Victor C. and Mary E. (Klug) Heptner. Preceded in death by her parents; cousin, Roberta Klug and brother-in-law Don Sgambelluri.  Karen is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Sgambelluri, Frisco, TX;  brother Dennis (Patty) , devoted and loving brother Tim, with whom she resided.  Also survived by special cousin Kevin “From Heaven” Klug and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. Although Karen faced many challenges in her life, she never complained or said a bad word about anyone.  Always young at heart, she loved to laugh and sing. Karen had a very good memory for family member’s and friend’s birthdays.  She enjoyed coloring and word searches.  She looked forward to her daily phone calls to neighbors and friends, especially “aunt” Lida Prestipino, Sis Neff and Dorothy Washburn.  Karen loved going to Senior Life to see her friends and staff members.  The family would like to thank the staff at Senior Life for their care and compassion over the years. Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home, Inc., 710 Broad Street where vigil service will be held.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, Very Rev. Matthew B. Baum. Committal will be held at St. John Cemetery, Geistown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be directed to Proclaim TV Ministry P.O. Box 807 Johnstown, PA 15907-0807.
